Reply:If you have graduated from a dental assisting program, your school should offer job placement assistance. If you are not an experienced dental assistant, just check the classified section of the newspaper. There are some dental practices out there that will provide on-the-job training to the right person. You'll need to find out about certification requirements in your state, too. Our state requires dental assistants to take a certification examination in order to have any contact with patients. Your local dental society should be able to answer any questions you have about qualifications and certification requirements. Check the American Dental Association web site at www.ada.org to see if there is any additional information available there.
