Good money=yes

Needed=definitely

Hard=absolutely not...especially if your ability comes with a good personality!
Reply:Hi.

I know the ones where I live make good money (and I live in a small town...so I imagine in the city they make more.) Look online for salaries.

I do believe there is a need everywhere.

I don't think it's hard to get a job as one as long as you have the training. There IS college or trade school involved. Where I live in Michigan we have a two-year program at many universities.

I am not one to "diss" other people's job choice, but I think this would be the utmost disgusting job! Scraping people's teeth all day? Yuk! I am glad there are people that want to do it....as we need them as much as we need all other professions, but it wouldn't be for me! I can imagine how some people's mouths look....frightening!
Reply:Yes! They make great money. Hygenists have a better reputation as they are dealing with the client one on one....as opposed to a Dental assistant where they assist the dentist with medical/surgical procedures. Everyone i know in the feild has taken Dental Assisting before Dental Hygeine as it is a 1 year program and teaches you alot about Tooth and Mouth anatomy as well as just the basics.

Everyone needs there teeth cleaned so its not hard to get a job as one. Often it is part-time, so if you work at two different offices it keeps things exciting, and gives you different clientel.
