How to get job in dental office?
You should be able to find work as a dental assistant and you do not require a license or certification for this in most states. Certification is OFFERED to allow you to more clinical procedures, but it is not required. The thing is, you WILL be limited to dental assisting. You would not become an assistant dentist. In fact, I have had a foreign dentist as a patient and she decided to become an assistant as a fast track to an income, as her foreign dental degree was worthless in the job market.

In order to get licensed, you will need to be certified by a USA dental school to take the licensing examination. NO school will do that without a minimum of two years education in their facility. When they certify you, their reputation sits with you as you take the board examination. Funding rests on the number of successful candidates. They can not afford to just let you try it once under their name and see how it goes.

Many dental schools have 2-to-3 year programs to retrain foreign dentists so that they can be certified to take the licensing board examinations.
Reply:Depending on what state you are in, you may not be legally allowed to assist or be a hygienist, even though you are trained, you will need to have a license. If there are any schools in your area, they may be able to help you find a job. Have you looked into taking any boards here to get you license?
Reply:Dr. Sam is correct about the time required. In my class, every foreign-trained dentist had to take all four years of dental school. Maybe you could work part-time as an assistant while going to school. In four years you will either be able to legally practice the best profession in the best country in the world and be in the top 1% of all wage-earners OR you will not. It's your choice-here's hoping that you can make it work out. Best wishes.
Reply:contact local dental bords and you MAY need to take classes or exam
Reply:Recentley I have been loking for training in dental assisting and i found several dental offices were offering short programs for a certificate in as little as 10-12 weeks. the price however was $1800- $2000 that included all supplies. maybe u can just sit 4 an exam since you already have a degree to be certified in the u.s. ?
