Im thinking about becoming a dental assistant. What is the job outlook?
I was just at the dentist last week, and I was chatting with the dental assistant. I was asking her how she liked her job, and she told me she LOVES it, and the pay is good. If you look in the Yellow Pages, there are pages and pages of dentists, so I think it would be a great career for you. You should consider yourself lucky to have found something you want to do! So many people are lost! I say, "Go for it!!" Good luck, hon! :)
Reply:I was a dental asst. for 30 yrs. I loved my job and the people.

My first job I was trained by a male asst. , he was trained in the Navy. He was the only male asst. I came across until my child needed braces and there was one at the ortho office, he started as a receptionist, and the girls trained him to be an assistant because it paid more. I always thought why didn't more men go into the profession. I think its great go for it. If assisting works for you, next can go into dental hygiene, it starts at about $40.00 a hr.
