Whyis the dental nurses role so important?

what role does the dental nurse play and what does their job entail

Whyis the dental nurses role so important?
because people have 32 teeth and once a teeth is gone .. they are gone ... we never have our teeth grow like many other parts like nail, hair...
Reply:There's no such thing as a dental nurse. There are dental hygienists, and there are dental assistants. Hygiene programs work the same way as nursing programs (i.e. can be done as part of a 4-year bachelors degree or 2 years after a bachelor's degree), however, hygienists aren't anywhere near as knowledgeable as nurses. They know a smattering of things about the oral cavity and how to clean it.

Dental assistants are basically high school graduates who may or may not have been through a few months of dental assisting school.

Some oral and maxillofacial surgeons do hire nurses for their offices, and I suppose you could refer to them as "dental nurses".
Reply:There are dental hygienists that are responsible for cleaning teeth and educating patients on proper oral hygiene which is very important. They go to school for aprox. four years. Then there are dental assistants that are responsible for assisting the doctor with procedures, it seems to me that they do more work than the dentist depending on the state laws and what they are allowed to do. They are responsible for making temporary crowns, adjusting fillings, placing sealants, suctioning and rinsing, passing all insruments to the dentists. There educational background varies, they could be right out of high school and trained on the job, or go to a vocational school for the trade, and some of them even have a B.S. degree. They must also pass tests to be x-ray certified, nitrous certified, and sealant certified. Those tests depend on the state and the laws.
