Please help me if you can? Dental Plans or Discount dental service...?

I have a problem with my teeth, they are very fragile and no matter how much I brush after every meal and before bed and keep off sugary foods/drinks I am constantly breaking teeth and getting cavities. I spent $15K last year at the dentist trying to fix the major issues (root canals and wisdom teeth) and nipping as many of the little issues as I could afford to do. Now, I have mostly minor little issues here and there but still about another 10K in work to be done...dental is NOT CHEAP! I dont have dental insurance available to me through my job and most the companies that provide it have rules like only covering $2500 in work a year. I am trying so hard to find a dental plan that would actually help me get this work done since the longer I wait to do it the more expensive its gonna get. I live in Florida and either need suggestions on dental plan providers you know to be GOOD or if there are any places in South Eastern US that you know of that provide discount dental service. THANKS!

I know of two places in Florida where you can get affordable dental care (fees about half that of a private dentist):

University of Florida's College of Dentistry at Gainesville, and

Nova Southeastern University's School of Dental Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale.

Hope this helps.
Reply:I go to the dental school. I have had extensive dental work done, and the cost has been very reasonable. Also, the students are graded so they do a better job than a lot of dentists would. Dental schools not only have discounts, but they do a lot of research and can probably find out why your teeth are so fragile. You can all any university in your area that has a dental school and make an appt. Good Luck. It has saved me a ton of money.
Reply:Get your work done little by little. Most dentists are understanding about supplemental dental coverage. (We hardly refer to it as "insurance" any more.) If dental coverage had been adjusted with inflation, most Americans would receive about $5000/year. Unfortunately, it has not been re-worked since about 1976!

You can try to call 1-800-332-7068 to get help, they do not turn down any cases, I understand. And a lot of dentists offer some sort of discount for patients who pay out-of-pocket. Have you considered trying for Care Credit or Capital One? They are two reasonable plans that allow you to have a monthly payment to help out, and the first year may have no interest added to it. You can pretty much get the paperwork from any dental office.

I'm sorry for all your trouble, but keep at it. Since you have started to correct your oral issues, don't give up. Just think of it as an investment in yourself, your life. If you have to do it one tooth at a time, go for it, really. Perhaps the dentist will give you a few fillings or something at no charge. The office I work in is good about that.
