My job doesn't offer dental insurance. I was looking for advice on what insurance is the best that I can get myself.

Reply:Ameriplan and others often "advertised" on Yahoo are not in any way to be confused with insurance.
They make money by getting others to sell the discount plans, as they are a pyramid structure.
For the money you send, you are supplied with a list of dentists who agree to discount certain fees for patients who buy the list.
What's the problem with this? Well, consider it costs an average of 60% to 70% overhead to provide dental services. These costs include staff salary, rent, equipment, supplies, lab fees, etc. So, if a dentist agrees to write off 25% or more of their fees to these "Ameriplan" people, where do they make up the difference? They've still got to pay the bills.
What usually happens is the patient is sold other services not covered by the plan. Or, a cheaper lab is used, or time is cut in half for the appointment. Something has GOT to give.
If a good dentist can fill chairs with patients paying full fees, why on earth would they take these Ameriplan people?
Would you do YOUR job for half pay?
Reply:You can have a very affordable Dental plan with 3 other FREE plans. You can sign up today and go to the dentist tomorrow.
Money back guarantee is available. You cannot beat the company's price for value and service.

Reply:If you have medical, give them a call to see if they offer dental. Some have nice packages. I use bluecross and there's no maximums and it costs $18 a month. It basically everything, just pay a copay. It's not as good the one at the job but it's 4 times less. There's kaiser, bluecross, western dental, and delta dental to list a few. Check out their websites. They have their coverages posted there. Or do a search for dental plans. If you do find a good company from one of their seach engines, go direclty to the company's site instead. That way you deal directly with them and get their best price. Good luck!
