I am a dental assistant and I love my job but how do you get along with the doctor's wife?

She can be pretty nice but very jealous and does not know anything about dentistry and is only there because he wants her there. She's very controlling and sometimes hard to get along with. She has the ability to snap at you one minute and the next she's nice to you. The dr. is great to work with and it's his wife that drives us all nuts. The other girls agree as well.

I worked in a dental office where the wife was there as an assistant very jealous but sometimes nice. The only thing you can do is get with the other girls and confront the doctor this is his business plus he is male so he probably doesn't even know whats going on. Don't say anything bad about the wife because he will take her side, just say that there is tension at work maybe all of you can work something out. Be prepared to look for another job just in case. good luck. I made it 10 months at that office before I quit.

Reply:Jealous of the other women? Why? Ask her if she needs some help with her control problem. She may not snap if she's handled right.





Maybe she would be less jealous if you explained your all lesbians or something. Maybe hire a guy in case she doesn't go along with the lesbian control thing or starts snapping.





Getting rid of her can be hard if the husband wants her there. He probably has a problem with her too and maybe someone in the office can help out. Maybe you'll have to hire a guy and try the control thing.





The job may not be worth it. Start looking and have some options available.
Reply:How well do you like your job? It is never a good idea for a spouse to work in his/her spouse's office. Especially if she doesn't know anything about dentistry.
Reply:A dentist in academics was once saying that all private practicing dentists have affairs with their assistants. Maybe she is aware of that.


There is another guy I know who was in private practice for a long time, his wife was his office manager. He later divorced his wife - he said she was a wacko. Maybe this woman is too. A good dental assistant is needed everywhere - quit this job.
